Community Music Center Finds Permanent Home

For more than two years, the Community Music Center of Boston has been working toward the ambitious goal of owning a permanent home in the heart of Boston. With the incredible support and collaboration of their community, committed students, parents, and faculty, and generous donors, they have announced the purchase of a 13,000-square-foot building at 2164 Washington Street in Nubian Square, the heart of Roxbury’s Cultural District.

CMCB is a leading arts institution living its mission through an expansion to Roxbury.  As the largest outside provider of arts education to BPS and an important community partner, CMCB’s expansion to Roxbury will create more opportunities to connect with students and families.

Their current plan calls for opening the new doors by 2026, and Summer/Fall 2026 is the first semester in which programming will be offered at our Nubian location. They will continue to maintain classrooms and teaching spaces in the South End.
